  • Convener Huang explained the origin and the idea of TSE.
  • Commission Member Yun-han Chu presented “The TSE Proposal” where he explained the vision, the funding, and the financial plan for the TSE.
  • The members concluded that the school should purse a joint storage to combine both domestic and international linkages. We should set up dual degrees at both MA and PHD levels.
  • TSE foundation should be set up as soon as possible.
The Second preparatory meeting
  • Details in communications with other academic institutions explained.
  • The members should contact National Taiwan University, Academia Sinica, and the four schools under the University System of Taiwan for exchange of views.
  • Prof. Ji Shi would provide a draft of “The Proposal for How to Establish the TSE.”
  • TSE foundation should be set up as soon as possible.
The third preparatory meeting

  • The four schools under the University System of Taiwan all welcomed the idea of TSE and were willing to play an active role.
  • The Charter for Donation should be drafted as soon as possible.
  • The invitations to interested schools should be sent to them as soon as possible.
  • The TSE should focus on graduate programs first (MA and PHD).
The fouth preparatory meeting

2019.10.24

  • Discussed potential cooperation with the Vice President Qinghua Luo and the Provost Shitong Ding from National Taiwan University (NTU).
  • National Taiwan University proposed that
    • In 2021, establish the TSE within NTU’s International College.
    • In 2023, Officially launch the TSE as a program.
    • In 2025, After the TSE develops 2 or 3 independent curricula, TSE will be officially established as a College within NTU.
  • Discussed the Charter for the donation.
The fifth preparatory meeting

2019.10.24

  • Officially approved “The TSE Foundation Donation Charter.”
  • Confirmed the invitation letter to be sent to schools.
  • Confirmed the “The Proposal for How to Establish the TSE.”
  • Expected the schools of interest to mail their proposals to the Foundation by December 31, 2019.
